Elise Viox Earns UAA Women's Cross Country Honor

Emory University senior Elise Viox (St. Louis, MO) has been named by the University Athletic Association as Women's Cross Country Co-Athlete of the Week following her performances at the JSU Foothills Invitational.  Viox shares the award with Kelsey Aamoth of Case Western Reserve.  It is the second time this season and in her career that she has been selected for the honor.

Viox helped the Eagles to a first-place finish in the White Division at the JSU Foothills Invitational, leading all 60 runners in the 5K race with a time of 18:15.  It was the fourth straight meet that she had ranked as the Eagles' No. 1 finisher.

Viox's performance helped Emory claim the top-five team scoring positions, with the Eagles registering 15 points, well ahead of runner-up Birmingham Southern's 72 points.

The Emory women's team, ranked 28th nationally in the D-III ranks, returns to action on October 17 when it travels to Winneconne, Wisconsin, to race in the NCAA D-III Pre-Nationals.
