Emory University junior Gabrielle Stravach (Westfield, NJ) has been named by the University Athletic Association as Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week following her performance at the Furman Classic.  It is the first time in her career that she has been selected for the honor.  

Stravach helped the Eagles to a second-place finish out of 17 teams in the non-Division I competition of the Classic. She paced the Emory contingent and was the third runner overall out of 156 entries, clocking a personal-best 6K time of 22:07. Stravach's effort helped the Eagles place three runners among the top 10 overall finishers.

The Emory women's team, ranked 21^st nationally, returns to action on Sept. 17 when it competes at the Falcon Classic on the campus of Montevallo University (AL).
