The Emory women's cross country team continued its season on Saturday by competing at the Falcon Classic.  The 6k race was held at the University of Montevallo Campus Course.

The Eagles posted a fourth-place finish out of 12 teams with 94 points.  Taking home the No. 1 spot was Queens College (NC) with 58 points while Lee University captured second with 76 points. Host Montevallo was third (78 pts.) while West Alabama closed out the top five with 139 points.

With some of the team's runners taking a break from this weekend's action, senior Sophie Cemaj came through with a solid outing, pacing the Eagles' contingent and placing 11th overall out of 117 entries with a time of 22:50, just a shade off her personal best mark. Sophomore Maeve Andrews clocked a personal-best time of 22:52 that was second on the squad and 13th overall, while freshman Porter Verfurth finished 17th with a showing of 23:07.  Rounding out the team's scorers were junior Gabrielle Rudolph, whose personal-best effort of 23:26 was 25th overall, and freshman Tori Spiezio, who clocked a 23:44, good for the No. 28 spot.

The Eagles, ranked No. 17 nationally in Division III, return to action on Saturday, October. 1, when they compete at the Greater Louisville Classic in Louisville, Kentucky.
