Annika Urban Tabbed as UAA Athlete of the Week

Annika Urban Tabbed as UAA Athlete of the Week

Emory University junior Annika Urban was named the University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week late Monday afternoon. This marks the second consecutive week that Urban has won the award and the second Athlete of the Week award for the cross country team this season.

Urban had her best meet of the season finishing the NCAA DIII National Championship in 12th place out of 293 runners in a time of 21:15.5. Urban, who just this past week was named the South/Southeast Regional Female Athlete of the Year, was named an All-American for her efforts in this meet. Her time in the 6k on Saturday marked the third fastest time for any runner in program history and her 12th place finish is the second highest finish at the DIII National Championship in team history. Urban's time of 21:15.5 beat her previous PR by 28 seconds and in doing so she managed to beat out all conference opponents to finish as the top finisher in the conference at Nationals.

This marks the end of the cross country season and as a result Urban will turn her attention to the impending indoor track & field season where she competes primarily in the distance events.
