2016 Emory Baseball Athletes of the Week

    Junior RHP Hans Hansen was named to the NCAA South Regional All-Tournament team after tossing a complete game shutout against Marietta (9.0 IP, 7 H, 0 BB, 5 K). It was the first ever complete game shutout in 71 all-time NCAA tournament games for the Eagles and just the second ever whitewash for an Emory team.

    Sophomore Bubby Terp was named the NCAA South Regional Most Valuable Player after going 10-for-18 (.556) with a .778 slugging percentage, .526 on-base percentage, one double, one home run and 13 runs batted in. He added his first career stolen base and scored four runs.

    Senior Dylan Eisner closed out the regular season, hitting a sizzling .444 in four games as Emory went 3-1. Eisner had a hit in each contest with one double and one RBI. On Saturday, he celebrated senior day in style with his first four-hit game of the season and reached base in all five plate appearances. Over the four games, Eisner raised his season average to a team-leading .371.

    Junior LHP Jackson Weeg went 1-0 in two starts for the Eagles in the final week of the regular season, striking out 15 batters in 12 innings on the mound. Weeg improved to 7-0 on Tuesday with a masterful performance against Oglethorpe. He allowed an unearned run on three hits in seven innings of work and tied a career-high with 10 strikeouts. He closed out the outing retiring 14 of the last 15 batters he faced. On Sunday, Weeg battled through five innings at Piedmont and was saddled with the no decision.

    Freshman Billy Dimlow tossed seven shutout innings against #6 Birmingham Southern on Wednesday, striking out three and walking just one in the outing. Dimlow is now a perfect 6-0 on the season with a 1.87 earned-run average.

    Senior Dylan Eisner hit a sizzling .583 as Emory went 4-0 this past week with wins over #6 Birmingham Southern and N.C. Wesleyan. Eisner collected a team-high seven hits and three stolen bases and drove in five runs during the week. Eisner added two walks and a team-best two sacrifice hits.

    Junior RHP Hans Hansen won his UAA-leading sixth game of the season on Saturday in the 8-4 victory over Maryville. Hansen bounced back from a loss his last time out to twirl eight innings of one-run ball to help Emory to the win. Hansen allowed one run on six hits, striking out four compared to just one walk. The junior is now 6-1 on the year with a team-low 1.44 ERA.

    Senior OF Chris Slivka led the Eagles in average, runs, home runs, RBI, walks and slugging as Emory went 3-0 this past week. Slivka drove in a season-best three runs in both the 6-4 victory over #9/6 Birmingham Southern on Tuesday and the 8-4 win over Maryville on Saturday. On Saturday, Slivka belted his first two career home runs, the first of which gave Emory a 3-1 lead which they would not relinquish.

    Freshman RHP Billy Dimlow had his best start of his young career in Emory's 3-1 win over Chicago on Tuesday. The rookie went a career-long eight innings with a season-best seven strikeouts to earn his fifth win of the season. Dimlow allowed just one run on two hits and two walks and at one point retired 12 straight batters.

    Junior DH Brian Hernandez drove in more than a third of Emory's 23 runs as the Eagles went 3-1 this past week. Hernandez had three games with two or more RBI and tied a career-high with four RBI in a 4-for-5 effort during Emory's 15-4 win over Chicago. In addition to leading the team in RBI, the Miami, FL native had team-bests in hits, doubles, triples and slugging during the week.

    Junior RHP Hans Hansen won his team-leading fifth game of the season for Emory in Saturday's 7-4 victory over Covenant. Hansen allowed just one ER in the game in six innings of work.

    Senior OF Chris Slivka led the team with three RBI, two doubles, and .625 slugging percentage as the #4 Eagles took two of three with Covenant over the weekend. Slivka drove in a pair in Friday's 4-3 loss and drove in Emory's third run of the game in the team's 3-2 win over the Scots in the rubber game.

    Junior closer Kyle Monk worked an extended outing in Emory's rain shortened 4-3 win over Berry on Tuesday evening, working 2.2 scoreless innings in earn his fifth save of the season. He allowed just one hit and struck out a pair while walking two.

    Senior Dylan Eisner had the game-winning RBI in all three of Emory's victories over the weekend against Huntingdon College. In game one on Friday, Eisner broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning with a run scoring single. In the second game of the series, Eisner has two-run base hit in the first inning to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead before going on to win 6-0. And in the series finale on Sunday, Eisner provided the big blow in Emory's six-run 7th inning as his two-run single gave the Eagles a 6-5 lead and went on to win 8-6. The senior led the team in hits and RBI over the weekend as Emory improved to 9-2, the team's best start to a season since 2008.

    Junior Hans Hansen had another stellar start, going eight shutout innings against one of the top offenses in the country as Emory took the second game against Huntingdon 6-0. He allowed eight singles, striking out seven and did not walk a batter. Through his first three starts of the season, Hansen is 3-0 with a 17:1 K:BB ratio and has not allowed a run through 21 innings.

    Sophomore Nick Chambers led the Emory offense as the team went 3-1 during the week to improve to 6-2 on the season. Chambers led the team in hits (6), HR (1), RBI (4), TB (9), slugging (.643) and added two stolen bases. His three RBI played a huge role in Emory's 5-0 win over Ferrum on Saturday including his first career home run which broke a scoreless tie in the fifth.

    Junior Hans Hansen threw seven scoreless innings to go along with seven strikeouts as Emory defeated Ferrum 5-0 in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday. Through the first two starts of the season, Hansen has yet to allow a run spanning 13 innings to go along with a 10:1 K:BB ratio.

    Junior DH Brian Hernandez hit a sizzling .647 over the weekend as Emory went 3-1 at the Central Texas Tournament. Hernandez collected at least two hits in all four contests and led the Eagles in hits, doubles, HR, RBI, total bases, slugging %, and on-base %. On Friday, the Miami, FL native reached base safely in eight of nine plate appearances, going 7-for-7 at the plate and driving in five RBI to help Emory open the season 2-0.

    Junior closer Kyle Monk appeared in three games for the Eagles at the Central Texas Tournament over the weekend and played a crucial part in Emory's two wins on the first day of the tournament. On Friday, Monk escaped a nearly impossible jam with the bases loaded, no outs and a 2-0 count in the seventh inning to preserve a 1-0 Emory lead. In the second game of the day, Monk came on to record the final out of the game, stopping the Pacific (Ore.) rally. It was Monk's first save of the season and with that became the all-time leader in school history with his 19th of his career.
