Price Nets Hat Trick in Emory Win over BSC

Price Nets Hat Trick in Emory Win over BSC

Emory University sophomore Dylan Price recorded his first career hat trick during Thursday night's game at Birmingham-Southern College, scoring the first three goals of the contest to help the Eagles to a 5-0 win and put an end to the team's three-game losing streak.

Price struck with his first goal of the game in the 33rd minute, heading in an Andrew Jones corner kick for his fourth goal of the season.  Just three minutes later, Price would score again, this time sending one into the back of the net off assists from Jones and freshman Connor Curtin, giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead heading into the half.

Price completed the hat trick in the 65th minute, scoring on another header, sending in ball with an assist from junior Nolan McKeever for his third-straight score.

Price's hat trick was the 37th in the program's history, and the first since former Eagle Zach Samuels scored three goals against Berry College on September 24th, 2011.

Emory would continue to add to its lead, as senior Andrew Natalino scored for the fourth-straight game, converting his goal in the 71st minute off McKeever's second assist of the game.  In the 79th minute, sophomore Carl Credle scored his first collegiate goal on a header off the first collegiate assist for freshman Matt Sherr.  Emory finished the game with 17 shots, 13 of which were on goal.

Natalino and Price are now tied for the team lead with six goals apiece this season.  Price, who also has an assist to his record during the year, took over the team lead in points with 13.

Meanwhile, Emory's defense played one of its best games of the season, limiting the Panthers to just seven shots, only three of which were on frame.  It marked the team's second shutout of the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Abe Hannigan earned his first collegiate victory and shutout in the game, making a pair of saves in the win.  It was the first individual shutout by an Emory goalkeeper since Andrew Goldblum shut out Brandeis University on October 28, 2011.

The win brought the Eagles' record to 3-4-1 on the campaign, while the Panthers dropped to 3-3-1 with the loss.  Emory will return home on Saturday, September 22nd to host Millsaps College at the Woodruff Physical Education Center at 12:00 PM.
