UAA Update
Just one game into the conference schedule, Emory is tied for first place in the UAA with a 1-0-0 record, along with fourth-ranked Carnegie Mellon and sixth-ranked New York University.  After tying last Saturday, ninth-ranked Brandeis and Rochester are tied for fourth in the UAA, while at 0-1-0, Chicago, Washington and Case Western Reserve are each tied for sixth place.

On Saturday, Case will play at Brandeis at 1:30 PM, NYU will host Rochester at 1:30 PM, and Carnegie Mellon will be at Chicago at 2:30 PM.

Emory Eagles
Emory has played its best soccer of the season as of late, putting together a four-game winning streak to improve to 6-4-1 for the campaign, including a 3-2-0 mark in games away from the Woodruff P.E. Center.  With the recent surge, the team has re-entered the NSCAA regional rankings, and is now tied for 10th in the South Atlantic Region.  The Eagles will be looking to remain atop the conference standings, after claiming a thrilling 4-3 double-overtime win against then 23rd-ranked Chicago on Saturday, after sophomore Carl Credle scored the game-winning goal with 26 seconds left in the game.  Emory has outscored opposing teams 28-14 this season, good for a team goals-against average of 1.21, and has outshot other teams by a 219-114 margin.  Offensively, sophomore Dylan Price leads all Eagles this season with 20 points, and is tied with senior co-captain Andrew Natalino for the team lead with nine goals this season.  Freshman goalkeeper Abe Hannigan has gone 4-1-0 during his first five collegiate starts, and has recorded a 0.91 goals-against average with a .722 save percentage.  He has been aided by an Emory backfield that has allowed just 10 shots on goal during the team's four game winning streak.

The Eagles are led by head coach Sonny Travis, who is 74-24-6 during his five seasons at Emory, including three NCAA Tournament berths and a UAA Championship.  His career 368-116-43 record ranks him 14th among active Division III coaches in victories, and his .738 winning percentage is the 10th-best among active D-III coaches.  Travis will be joined by fourth-year assistant Ben Buerger, second-year goalkeeper coach Clayton Schmitt, and student assistant Dehmeh Smith.

Wash U. Bears
Washington University, currently the ninth-ranked team in the Central Region, will enter Sunday's game with a 5-3-1 record, following its conference-opening 1-0 road loss to Carnegie Mellon last Sunday.  Despite a strong performance on the road this season, the Bears will be looking for their first home victory of the season, as the squad has gone 0-1-1 at home in 2012.  Wash U. has features a strong defense, limiting opposing teams to just six goals and recording a 0.64 goals-against average, but has struggled to score with just nine goals during the campaign, and has been outshot 108-80.  The Bears' roster features 2011 all-region first team goalkeeper Jonathan Jebson and second team defender Brian Wright.  Their leading scorer this season has been sophomore Chris Haeberle (two goals and two assists for six points), while Jebson has a 0.58 goals-against average and a .857 save percentage.

The Bears are led by head coach Joe Clarke, who has a record of 177-79-32 during his 16 years with the team, and a 382-153-62 record during his 29-year career, which including a 14-year stay at his alma-mater, Division I St. Louis University.  Clarke is assisted by Jeff Pomranka, Rick Rone, and Paul Anderson.

Emory has gone 5-2-1 against Washington University over the past eight seasons, but stands at 7-12-7 all-time against the Bears, including a 3-7-3 record in games in St. Louis.  The Eagles have gone 3-0-2 in their last five games played at Wash U., dating back to the 2001 season.  Last season, the Eagles suffered a tough 2-1 double-overtime loss to the Bears at home, despite a game-tying penalty kick goal from Natalino in the 71st minute of the game.  In the contest last season, Emory outshot Wash U. by a 26-7 margin, including a 7-4 edge in shots on goal.  The annual matchup has gone to a second overtime period in each of the last two seasons.
