24th-Ranked Men’s Soccer Remains Undefeated with 1-0 Win over Ramapo

24th-Ranked Men’s Soccer Remains Undefeated with 1-0 Win over Ramapo

The Emory University defense recorded its second-straight shutout, and sophomore Jason Andrejchak notched the game winning goal for the second game in a row, as the 24th-ranked Eagles defeated Ramapo College 1-0 on Sunday to cap off play at the Berry College Invitational in Rome, Georgia.

The Eagles have now won three-straight games and stand undefeated on the season with a 3-0-1 overall record.  Ramapo dropped to 3-2-0 with the loss.

Emory took a lead in the 42nd minute on Andrejchak's second goal of the season.  He scored off a pass from Sebastian Hardington, the first assist of the campaign for the junior.  Andrejchak is now tied for the team lead with six points (two goals and two assists) this season.

Emory finished the first half with a 7-4 advantage in shots, including a 3-2 edge in shots on goal.

The start of the second frame was delayed by lightning in the area, but the Eagles defense remained solid after the delay, allowing the Roadrunners just two more shots the rest of the game, neither of which were on target.  Junior goalkeeper Abe Hannigan played the entirety of the game for Emory, converting a pair of saves en route to his second shutout of the season and 11th of his career, tying him with former Eagle Rohit Agarwal (2002-05) for the seventh-most in the program's history.

Hannigan lowered his goals-against average to 0.71 for the season with the shutout.

Senior Dylan Price led all playes in the game with four shots, including one on goal, while Andrejchak registered a game-high two shots on goal.  Emory finished the game with 13 total shots, four of which were on frame.

The Eagles will return to the Woodruff Physical Education Center on Wednesday, September 10th at 7:00 PM for a midweek matchup against in-state opponent Covenant College.
