After nearly seventy minutes of scoreless soccer, senior Lauren Gorodetsky scored a pair of goals in the final 20 minutes of action to guide the 10^th-ranked Emory University Women's Soccer Team to a 2-0 win at Birmingham-Southern College on Friday night.

In addition to scoring the only goals of the game, Gorodetsky helped pace an Emory defense that limited the Panthers to four shots in the game, only one of which was on goal.  It was the most dominating performance of the season for the Eagles' backline, and their second shutout of the 2013 campaign.

Emory improved to 4-2-1 with the win, the team's second-straight, while Birmingham-Southern dropped to 2-4-0 with the loss.

The Eagles held possession for most of the first half, but had little to show for it, as the game remained scoreless through the first 45 minutes.  The Eagles took 13 unanswered shots during the half, but were often errant with their attempts, as just three were on goal.  Emory came close to getting on the board in the 37^th minute, but a shot attempt from Samantha Bleiweis banged off the crossbar to end the Eagles' threat. 

Emory players notched three more shots to start the second half, before Birmingham-Southern's Amanda Babbin took the first attempt of the day for the Panthers at the 58-minute mark.  The teams would continue to go back-and-forth until the 70^th minute, when Gorodetsky with the eventual game winner after a corner kick.

The center back would later secure the victory with an insurance goal, scoring on a free kick in the 90^th minute of play.  It was the first multiple-goal game of her career.

Gorodetsky, a three-time All-American and reigning D3Soccer.com Defensive Player of the Year, has now scored nine career goals, five of which have been of the game-winning variety.

With the lead in hand, Emory would allow just two off-target shots after taking the lead to close out the clean sheet.  The Eagles ended the game with a 26-4 edge in total shots, and a 10-1 advantage in total shots.

Sophomore goalkeeper Liz Arnold made one save to earn her first career individual shutout, and the first individual shutout by an Emory goalkeeper since September 19, 2010.  She improved to 3-1-1 on the season and lowered her goals-against average to 0.55.

Emory will wrap up its two-game weekend road trip on Sunday, September 22^nd, when the Eagles travel to Berry College to face the Vikings at 2:00 PM.
