Emory University senior Jordan Wylie was named the University Athletic Association's (UAA) Women's Tennis Player of the Week, after leading the fourth-ranked Eagles to a 9-0 win over 16th-ranked Washington and Lee University on Saturday.
Teamed with freshman Madison Gordon, Wylie won the first doubles match in the contest by an 8-2 score over the Generals' Meghan Buell and Chelsea Mixson. She followed that with a straight-set 6-1, 6-1 win over Claire Cahill in the second singles match.
Wylie, who was named to the all-UAA First Team for both singles and doubles play last week, improved to 14-11 in singles matches and to 13-6 in doubles action this season with the victories. In addition, her 69 career singles victories moved her into a tie for 16th-place in school history in the category.
Wylie's performance this season has helped the Eagles notch a 14-4 record during the spring season. Emory was selected to the field for the 2013 NCAA Tournament on Monday, and will open tournament play at home on Saturday after a first-round bye.
