Clark, Rosen & Sullivan Selected to Compete at NCAA Individual Championships

Emory University's Gabrielle Clark will have an opportunity to repeat her singles title at the 2013 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships, as the junior was selected to the field of 32, to be held later this month.  She will be joined in the singles draw by freshman Beatrice Rosen, and will team with freshman Annette Sullivan in the field of 16 doubles draw as well.

In addition, senior Jordan Wylie was selected as the Atlantic South Region's singles alternate, and the doubles alternate along with freshman Madison Gordon.  Should any singles player or doubles team from the Atlantic South Region scratch from the tournament, Wylie and Gordon would be the replacements.

The individual championships will be held from May 23rd-25th, immediately following the team championships.  Both events will be at Stowe Stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and hosted by Kalamazoo College.

Last season, Clark became the first African American women to win an NCAA Singles Title at any level (Division I, II or III), defeating Lok Sze Leung of Middlebury College 6-2, 7-6 (1) in the Championship Match.  She also finished as the runner-up in the doubles draw, teaming with former Eagle Zahra Dawson.

This year, Clark has an overall singles record of 24-6, including an 18-1 mark against Division III opponents, and has gone 12-3 with Sullivan in doubles contest.  Rosen has a 20-6 singles record in 2013, including a 12-1 record against Division III opposition.

The Eagles will open the NCAA Team Championships on Saturday at 3:30 PM, hosting the winner of the match between Trinity (Texas) and Agnes Scott, after a first-round bye.
