#4 Women’s Tennis to Face #6 Middlebury in NCAA Quarterfinal

The fourth-ranked Emory University Women's Tennis team will take on sixth-ranked Middlebury College in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Championships at 8:30 AM on Monday, May 20th in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

The Eagles will enter Monday's match with an overall record of 16-4 this season, including a 12-2 record against Division III opponents.  Emory is 62-31 all-time in NCAA Championship matches, including a 43-9 record under head coach Amy Bryant.  The Eagles are also 13-10 all-time in NCAA Quarterfinal matches, including a 10-1 mark since 2001.

Middlebury stands at 13-6 on the season, advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals with victories over M.I.T. in the second round and Bowdoin in the third.

This will be the second meeting this season between Emory and Middlebury, after the Eagles claimed a 7-2 road win over the Panthers on April 5th.  In the match, Emory swept all three doubles contests, and received singles victories from Beatrice Rosen, Jordan Wylie, Madison Gordon and Brenna Kelly.  Emory is 5-1 all-time against Middlebury.

The winner of the Emory-Middlebury match will advance to the semifinals to face the victor of the match between top-ranked Amherst and 12th-ranked Washington University.  Quarterfinal matches on the other side of the draw include matchups between second-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and eighth-ranked Chicago, and third-ranked Williams and seventh-ranked Johns Hopkins.
