Continuing to face some of the toughest competition that NCAA Division II has to offer, the Emory University Women's Tennis Team, ranked third in Division III, suffered a 7-1 loss at third-ranked Barry University on Friday afternoon.
Emory's lone point of the match came at first doubles, where the pairing of senior Gabrielle Clark and freshman Melissa Goodman defeated their counterparts by an 8-5 score. The fifth singles match, where Emory's Katarina Su trailed by a set after losing the first frame 7-6 (3), but was leading 3-1 in the second set, was left unfinished.
The loss was the second-straight for the Eagles, who lost to the sixth-ranked Division II team, Lynn, yesterday. Barry improved to 17-1 on the season with the win.
Emory will wrap up its Florida trip on Saturday, plating at Nova Southeastern University, the 15th-ranked NCAA Division II squad, at 10:00 AM.
