Five Eagles Earn All-UAA Women's Tennis Honors

FULL UAA RELEASE

Following the team's fourth straight conference title and the 27th overall in program history at last weekend's University Athletic Association Championships, five members of the top-ranked Emory University women's tennis team were named to the all-conference teams as announced by the UAA on Thursday. In addition, freshman Taylor Cosme was tabbed as the conference's Rookie of the Year and Head Coach Amy Bryant and assistant coaches Jordan Wylie, Barbara Krtickova and Ian Wagner received the Association's Coaching Staff of the Year award.

Earning First Team honors for the Eagles were junior Michelle Satterfield (Second Singles), Cosme (Third Singles), senior Beatrice Rosen (Fourth Singles), senior Madison Gordon (Fifth Singles) and junior Paula Castro (Sixth Singles). Satterfield and Castro, Emory's no.3 doubles team, were also honored on Thursday by claiming First Team doubles honors.

Cosme went 3-0 in singles matches at the tournament (1-0 as Emory's second singles player and 2-0 as its third) and teamed up with Gordon to win the no.3 doubles match in the quarterfinals against the University of Rochester, 8-1. Cosme becomes the fourth straight Eagle to be named the UAA Rookie of the Year, along with Rosen in 2013, Satterfield in 2014 and Bridget Harding last season, and the seventh overall.

The Coaching Staff of Year honor is the 21st by an Emory staff in program history and is the 11th of Bryant's career, who last received the award in 2014.

Gordon (3-0) makes her fourth consecutive appearance on the All-Association First Team while Satterfield (2-0) earns her third straight. This marks the first career All-UAA honor for Cosme and Castro (2-0).

For Rosen (2-0), this also represents her fourth career All-UAA honor and the third time she has been placed on the conference's First Team, earning the distinction as both a freshman and sophomore. Last season, Rosen was a Second Team selection at no.1 singles.

Emory (23-4), which claimed the 27th UAA Championship in school history by defeating Washington University 7-2 in the title match, will close out the regular season on Sunday, May 1st at home against NAIA-power Georgia Gwinnett College (13-2). Earlier this season, the Eagles defeated the Grizzles 6-3 in Gwinnett.
