Men's Golf Finishes Third at Jekyll Collegiate Invitational

The Emory University men's golf team closed the Jekyll Island Collegiate in third place on Sunday afternoon. The 54-hole event was played over three days on the 6,551-yard, par-72 Pine Lakes Course at the Jekyll Island Golf Club.

After finishing day one and day two in first place, the No. 1 ranked Eagles were unable to hold on to their lead shooting a 292 in the third and final round to drop them in the team standings. The Eagles score over all three rounds was 854 (279-283-292) which is the fifth best three-round tournament score in program history. The Eagles score of 279 in the first round was tied for the best round by any school at the tournament. At the conclusion of the tournament, No. 16 ranked Sewanee sat atop the leaderboard with a score of 851 (283-280-288) while No. 2 ranked Methodist took home the silver medal after posting a 853 (280-287-286).

Senior Logan Ryan led the way for the Eagles finishing in a tie for sixth place after recording a tournament score of 210 (70-69-71) which is tied for the fourth best in program history for a three-round tournament. Junior Jackson Klutznick followed close behind registering a 212 (70-70-72) which saw him finish in a tie for 12th thanks in large part to posting the second most birdies at the tournament at 16. Freshman Tony Li (70-74-73) and senior Max Schwarz (73-70-76) were neck-and-neck for the duration of the tournament with Li eventually pulling ahead to finish in 30th and 45th, respectively. Senior Davis Hingtgen closed out scoring for the Eagles, carding a 221 (69-76-76). Competing as an individual, sophomore Michael Rosenbloom came in first place amongst all the other individuals after registering a score of 143 (74-69) in the two-round event. Freshmen Josh Qian (76-73) and Michael Burry (75-78) also competed as individuals.

The Eagles will take a small Spring break before returning to action at the D3 Showcase at the French Lick Resort in Indiana on April 11th and 12th.
