Men's Golf Finishes Tied for Sixth at DIII Showcase

The Emory University men's golf team finished the DIII Showcase in a tie with three other teams for sixth place on Tuesday afternoon in French Lick, IN. The two-day, 36-hole tournament was played on the 6,612-yard, par-70 Donald Ross Golf Course at the French Lick Resort.

After finishing the first round in a tie for second place the No. 2 ranked Eagles slipped into a tie for sixth after shooting 298 in the second round to bring their two-day total to 589. Emory finished tied with No. 3 Huntingdon, No. 11 Piedmont and Rhodes who all matched their two-round total of 589. No. 6 ranked Carnegie Mellon and Kenyon finished tied atop the leaderboard with a score of 574 with the Lords winning the playoff tiebreak.

Junior Jackson Klutznick led the Eagles in scoring both days to bring his two-day total to 143 (70-73) and saw him finish tied for ninth in the field of 100 golfers. Klutznick finished the tournament with the second most birdies (8) and the best score of all golfers on par-5 holes (-3). Senior Logan Ryan was a model of consistency posting a score of 73 on both days for a two-day total of 146 to lodge him in a 16th place tie. Seniors Max Schwarz and Davis Hingtgen matched each other in both rounds, each carding a 150 (74-76) to finish knotted up for 36th. Rounding out scoring for the Eagles was freshman Tony Li whose two-day total of 154 (78-76) slotted him in a tie for 61st.

The Eagles return to action later this week when they play host to the 54-hole Emory Invitational at the Cherokee Run Golf Course in Conyers, GA on Saturday, April 16th and Sunday, April 17th.
