Men's Golf Stands Tied for Fourth Following NCAA Opening Round

The Emory University men's golf team finished the first round of the NCAA Men's Golf Championships tied for fourth on Tuesday afternoon. This year's championships are being played at the 6,748-yard, par-72 Mission Inn Resort & Club Course in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL.

After the first 18-holes of action, the No. 2 ranked Eagles find themselves in a tie for fourth out of 43 teams with a team score of nine-over 297. Sitting atop the leaderboard is No. 6 ranked Carnegie Mellon at even-par 288 followed by No. 3 ranked Huntingdon at three-over and No. 1 ranked Methodist at four-over 292 to round out the podium in third.

Sophomore Jackson Klutznick leads the Emory contingent after the first round posting an even score of 72 that sees him tied for seventh. Klutznick started the back-nine with an impressive Eagle on the first hole that moved him to three-under par at the time. Senior Logan Ryan continued to be a steady force for the Eagles going for a score of 74 that sees him tied for 25th. Fellow seniors Max Schwarz and Davis Hingtgen finished the first round tied in 37th place after carding scores of 75 with Schwarz pouring in five birdies which ties for the tournament lead. Freshman Tony Li rounded out scoring for the Eagles posting a score of 76 that sees him tied for 54th.

On Wednesday morning the Eagles will resume play with the second round of action where they will look to move back into contention. After the first 36-holes are completed the field will be cut to the top 18 teams remaining and the top six individuals not on one of those teams.
