Men's Golf Sits in a Second Place Tie Through Two Rounds of Savannah Invitational

Through two rounds of play at the Savannah Invitational, the Emory University men's golf team sits in a tie for second place with one round left to play. The tournament is being played one the 6,851-yard, par-72 Savannah Harbor golf course in Savannah, Georgia.

The No. 3 ranked Eagles have notched a two round score of 584 (294-290) with the first two rounds both played on Monday. Emory's second round score of 290 was tied for the best second round of any team in the 18-team field. Leading the tournament through two rounds is No. 6 Wittenberg with a score of 579 (289-290). Tied with Emory are the No. 18 Huntingdon Hawks who have also amassed a score of 584 (293-291). The Eagles are one of six teams ranked in the top ten of the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Division III Coaches Poll competing at the Savannah Invitational which includes No. 1 Christopher Newport, No. 4 Piedmont and No. 5 Carnegie Mellon. 

Sophomore Michael Burry continues his impressive run in his second year with the team as he is tied for first through two rounds having carded a score of five-under par 139 (69-70). Burry is tied with Piedmont's Fred Roberts IV although Burry has notched the best score of all golfers on par-4 holes as he sits at an impressive -5 on holes that meet the criteria. Following up Burry was freshman Brian Hanson who has impressed so far in this tournament with a score of 144 (75-69) which places him in a tie for seventh. Sophomore Nicholas Nautiyal was rock solid through 36 holes posting a score of 148 (76-72) which sees him tied for 23rd. Sophomore Tony Li is tied for 48th after registering a score of 153 (74-79) as he looks to move up the leaderboard in the third and final round of play tomorrow. Sophomore Josh Qian rounded out scoring for the Eagles after recording a 160 (79-81) which places him in a tie for 79th.

The Eagles are back in action for the third and final round of the 54-hole Savannah Invitational as they look to make a push for their third tournament win of the academic year.
