The Emory University men's golf team defeated the NYU Violets 4-0-1 in the first round of the UAA Championships of the match-play event on Saturday afternoon. The first round was played on the 6,770-yard, par-72 Harbor Hills Country Club course in Lady Lake, Florida.
Competing under the match-play format, the No. 3 ranked Eagles, who came into the UAA tournament having drawn the first overall seed, pulled out a convincing victory over the Violets. Sophomore Tony Li, junior Jackson Klutznick and sophomore Michael Burry all pulled out resounding victories concluding each of their individual matches with three or more holes left to play. - Michael Burry (E) defeated Jorge Montero (N) 6&5
The Eagles will face off against No. 5 ranked and second seeded Carnegie Mellon, who won their first round matchup 3-2 over Rochester, on Sunday morning for the UAA Championship.
