Randolph College Edges Emory Men's Soccer in OT, 1-0

Randolph College Edges Emory Men's Soccer in OT, 1-0

Randolph College scored three minutes into the first overtime period to hand the Emory University Men's Soccer team its second consecutive 1-0 defeat on Sunday afternoon in Lexington, VA.

In the 93rd minute, Randolph's Adam Watson found the game-winner as he played a free kick from right outside the box and into the lower corner of the net to give the Wildcats the victory.

The Eagles controlled possession for most of the game, racking up 22 shots and outshooting the Wildcats by a 22-6 margin but could not find the back of the net in regulation as the game went into the extra session deadlocked at 0-0. Emory also held the advantage in shots on goal, 5-3.

Seniors Jason McCartney and Michael Carragher each posted five shots apiece to lead the team with McCartney registering the Eagles' final scoring chance, putting a ball on target in the 90th minute but was turned away by RC's Austin Collier.

Emory will look to stop its current two-game losing skid with a non-conference matchup at Sewanee University Wednesday night. Kickoff is slated for 6:00 PM EST.
