Jackson Price & Liam Fost Claim Event Titles on Day Two of UAA Indoor Championships

The Emory University men's indoor track & field team concluded the second and final day of the UAA Indoor Championships in Cleveland, OH in fourth place and five more All-UAA performers.

The Eagles finished in fourth place with a score of 74 points which marks the men's teams highest finish since 2017. WashU took home the crown finishing with 176.5 points while Carnegie Mellon (150) and Chicago (121) came in second and third place, respectively.

Freshman Jackson Price had the best day of his young collegiate career earning All-UAA honors in the 60m dash and 200m dash. Price ran a time of 7.01 seconds in the 60m dash which produced a first-place finish at the meet and is the fourth fastest time in program history. In the 200m dash, Price finished in second place with a time of 22.35 seconds which sees him tied for the ninth fastest time in Emory indoor history.

Graduate student Liam Fost won the 400m dash for the second time in his illustrious collegiate career crossing the finish line with a time of 49.12 seconds and securing his third consecutive All-UAA honor in the 400m dash.. Senior Thomas Perretta showed out in his first ever 800m run indoor final recording a time of 1:55.46 which placed him third and earned him the All-UAA accolade.

The 4x400 relay team consisting of Fost, sophomore Dawit Dean, freshman Chris Belz and Price earned a bronze medal registering a time of 3:23.17 to earn the final All-UAA honor for the Emory men's team on Sunday.

Elsewhere on the track, freshman Sam Ryba and Dean scored in the short distance events with Ryba scoring two points in the 60m dash with his seventh-place finish and Dean scoring one point in the 400m dash finishing in eighth. Along with Perretta, the Eagles had two other runners in sophomore Spencer Watry (2 points) and freshman Marcus Cheema (1 points), score in the 800m run. As the only competitor for the Eagles in the 60m hurdles final, senior Lucas Werner registered a seventh-place finish with a time of 8.83 seconds to earn two points for Emory.

On the field, the Eagles had three more competitors gain points with their Sunday performances. Freshman John Zhai just missed out on becoming an All-UAA honoree with his fourth-place finish in the triple jump event where he jumped a new personal best distance of 13.36m. In the long jump, freshman Raymond Ye leaped a distance of 6.52m which was the sixth best distance at the meet and earned the Eagles three additional points. Junior Michael Tiffin finished in the final scoring slot in the shot-put earning one point with a distance of 12.97m.

The Emory men's track & field team now turns to the Tufts National Qualifier on March 5th in Boston, MA which serves as the last opportunity for the Eagles to post marks that would qualify them for the NCAA Indoor Championships.
