Men's and Women's Cross Country Qualify for NCAA Championships

The Emory University men's and women's cross country teams have both qualified for the NCAA Championship next weekend as announced by the NCAA on Sunday morning.

The two teams are set to compete at the NCAA Championship in Lansing, MI on the Forrest Acres course on Saturday, November 19th with the women set to run at 11:00 AM and the men set to begin at 12:00 PM. The men's cross country team earned an automatic bid by virtue of winning the NCAA South Regional Championships on Saturday while the women were one of 22 teams to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship. This marks the 17th consecutive appearance and the 32nd appearance overall for the women's teams while the men will be competing in the NCAA Championship for the ninth consecutive year and the 25th time in program history.

The women's cross country team will enter into the NCAA Championship ranked 30th in the nation after a fourth place finish at the UAA Championships two weekends ago and a second place finish at the NCAA South Regional Championship on Saturday. The women are led by senior Annika Urban who has won six straight meets including her second straight regional title this past weekend and set the program record for fastest time in a 6k meet with a time of 20:22 at the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, PA. Other notable runners for the women are graduate student Claire Hu, sophomore Jenna Daly, freshman Luna McCauley and junior Lily Taylor

The men's cross country team will go into championship weekend as the eighth ranked team in the country after winning their first ever UAA Championship and their third consecutive NCAA South Regional Championship. The men have been led this season by senior Spencer Moore who set the program record for fastest 8k meet time with a time of 24:22.1 at the UAB Blazer Classic in Montevallo, AL. Other notable runners for the men are senior Brett Lucas, graduate student Ethan Thompson, junior Scott Masterson and sophomore David Evans.
