Christopher Marco joined the Emory cross country and track and field programs as an assistant coach in October of 2018.

Marco joined the Eagles' family after serving as a volunteer assistant coach at Monmouth University during the 2018-19 school year. During his year with the Hawks, he worked with athletes who registered a total of 10 individual and relay conference titles while posting first-place finishes in the men's and women's indoor and outdoor team championships. He mentored a pair of athletes to regional competition and one to All-America status in the indoor and outdoor 800 meters.

During his collegiate career as an undergraduate, Marco competed for the University of Notre Dame, where as a senior he raced in the 800m finals at the ACC Indoor Championships.  A Second Team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honoree in the Indoor Distance Medley, his personal-best time of 3:43 in the 1500 meters at the Stanford Invite represented the best time by a Notre Dame runner all season.  Chris distinguished himself in the classroom as well by being named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll every semester he was eligible.  During his time at Notre Dame, he also ran cross country.

After graduating Notre Dame with a bachelor's degree in Finance, Marco competed at Monmouth for the 2017-18 indoor and 2018 outdoor seasons while pursuing his MBA.  He raced to All-East Outdoor acclaim in the 1500 meters and 4x800 relay, running a leg on the latter that won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference crown (7:37.52).  During the indoor campaign, he landed All-East recognition in the mile and 4x800 relay.  He continued to shine in the academic realm landing berths on the MAAC Academic Honor Roll. 

A native of Toms River, New Jersey, he attended Toms River South High School where he was a 12-time letter winner in cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field. As a junior, he won the state championship in the 1600 meters and, at the time of his graduation, owned the fifth-fastest mile in New Jersey state history.  During his senior campaign, he was honored as a New Balance Indoor Nationals All-American as a part of the DMR team that finished 5th at Nationals.
