Last Second PK Hands Emory Men's Soccer First Loss

The Emory men's soccer team was handed its first loss of the 2015 season on Sunday afternoon, falling to Denison University by a score of 2-1 in the championship match of the Sonny Carter Invitational.

With 77 seconds to go in regulation, Denison's Jordan Williams was taken down inside the box and was awarded a penalty kick. Williams beat Emory goalkeeper Abe Hannigan by going left and just got the ball past a diving Hannigan.

The Big Red began the scoring on the afternoon just 1:58 into the contest as Karch Majtenyi scored for Denison, sliding in from close range inside the six to direct the pass from Jake Girardot into the back of the net.

Emory's Sebastian Hardington tied the game up just under six minutes later. Hardington had a shot on goal that was initially saved by the Big Red goalie but Hardington was able to head in the rebound to tie the game at 1-1.

The Jacksonville, FL native scored a tournament-high three goals and was one of four Eagles to be named to the All-Tournament Team. Here's the complete list of all players selected to the All-Tournament Team as voted upon by the head coaches.
