#12/7 Brandeis Defeats Emory 1-0 on Senior Night

The Emory University men's soccer team fell to #12/7 Brandeis University 1-0 on Friday night at the Woodruff PE Center. Before the start of the game the senior class of Derek Chan, Connor Curtin, Abe Hannigan, Sebastian Hardington, Leo Ragazzo, Zachary Rosenberg, Nick Schook and Matt Sherr were honored with an on-field ceremony.

The Judges broke a scoreless tie in the 58th minute as Patrick Flahive headed in a Josh Ocel free kick. Flahive had a nice back side header following a long free kick from Ocel that Hannigan could not make a play on.

The Eagles had two great opportunities to tie the game following Flahive's goal. Scott Haley drilled the crossbar on a free kick with 29:53 minutes remaining in regulation and with three minutes left, Sherr had a fantastic one-timer from inside the 18 that was saved by a diving one-handed save by Brandeis goalkeeper Ben Woodhouse.

The teams tied in shots with eight each and both sides put three shots on goal. Woodhouse made three saves in the contest while Hannigan made two stops. Sherr, Jason Andrejchak and Moustafa Khattab all had one shot on net for Emory.

The Eagles look to bounce back on Sunday with a match against NYU at 1:30 PM. The Blue and Gold will then finish the regular season on Saturday, November 7th against Rochester.

Notes:

Matt Sherr played all 90 minutes in the game to become the all-time leader in Emory history with 6,209 minutes played.
