Facing the University of Puerto Rico - Mayaguez during the team's Puerto Rico excursion, the third-ranked Emory University women's tennis team earned a shutout victory, winning 9-0 on Tuesday.
The win was the fifth-straight for the Eagles, who raised their season ledger to 5-2.
Emory swept through the doubles contests, receiving victories from Gabrielle Clark and Zahra Dawson (8-0) in the first match, Malavika Padmanabhan and Brenna Kelly (8-2) in the second match, and Jordan Wylie and Lauren Pinsky (8-3) in the third contest.
The Eagles' success continued into singles play, as the team won each of the six matches in straight sets. Taylor Brandt won the first singles match 6-0, 6-0, followed by a 6-4, 6-3 win from Pinsky in the second singles contest. In third singles, Catharine Harris earned a 6-0, 6-0 win, while Allie Damico won 6-0, 6-2 in fourth singles. Rounding out the day, Kelly claimed a 6-1, 6-0 win in fifth singles, while Danielle Truitt defeated her counterpart in the sixth singles match, 6-0, 6-0.
Emory will return to action in Puerto Rico on Thursday, as the Eagles will face Bryant University at 10:00 AM.
