Emory Continues Action at Atlanta Classic

The Emory University women's tennis team continued competition against Division I opponents at the Atlanta Classic on Saturday afternoon, as the day was highlighted by singles and doubles victories by junior Gabrielle Clark.

Clark defeated Whitney Byrd of Georgia State University in straight sets, 7-6, 3-2, to improve to 2-0 in singles action at the tournament.  Earlier in the day, she teamed with freshman Emma Taylor to claim an 8-3 win over Caroline Faught and Isabel Fernandez of the University of Alabama – Birmingham.

Also claiming doubles victories during the day were senior captain Jordan Wylie and freshman Marissa Levine, who defeated Menanteau Moolman and Elaine Simon of UAB 8-6, sophomores Allie Damico and Lauren Pinsky, who defeated teammates in sophomores Catharine Harris and Danielle Truitt 8-6.

In other singles action Pinsky defeated Georgia State's Phoebe Chiem 6-3, 6-1, freshman Madison Gordon defeated Georgia State's Megan Nelms 6-1, 6-1, and Harris won over UAB's Sarah Witkowski by forfeit.

The Eagles will wrap up play at the Atlanta Classic on Sunday, starting at 9:00 AM.
