The fourth-ranked Emory Women's Tennis team opened a streak of eight-straight matches against ranked Division III opponents with a resounding victory on Tuesday afternoon, defeating 16^th-ranked Tufts 9-0 at the Woodruff Physical Education Center.

The win, Emory's third-straight, raised the team's season ledger to 6-2, including a perfect 4-0 mark at home.  Meanwhile, the loss was the first of the season for Tufts, which dropped to 2-1.

The Eagles opened play by gutting out hard earned wins in each of the three doubles matches, with junior Gabrielle Clark and freshman Annette Sullivan claiming an 8-5 win at first doubles, senior Jordan Wylie and freshman Madison Gordon earning an 8-6 win at second doubles, and freshman Emma Taylor and junior Brenna Kelly securing an 8-3 victory in the third doubles match.

While the three doubles matches were all close, the Eagles were dominant in singles, winning all six matches, including five in straight sets.  In the first singles match, Clark earned a 6-3, 6-3 win over Lindsay Katz, and freshman Beatrice Rosen followed with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Samantha Gann in the second singles match.  At third singles, Wylie defeated Shelci Bowman 6-2, 6-3, and Gordon claimed a 6-3, 6-3 win over Sophie Schonfeld at fourth singles. 

Emory's only three set victory came from freshman Stephanie Loutsenko, who battled from behind to defeat Lauren Hollender 3-6, 6-4, 11-9 at fifth singles.  Kelly rounded out the day for Emory with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Janice Lam at sixth singles.  Emory is now 15-1 in singles matches over its last three matches.

Emory will continue its stretch of games against nationally-ranked Division III opponents on Friday, when the Eagles host second-ranked Amherst College at the Woodruff P.E. Center at 2:00 PM, as part of the Fab 7 Tournament.
