The Emory University Women's Tennis team claimed its fourth-straight win over a nationally-ranked Division III opponent and its third-straight over a team ranked in the top-ten, as the third-ranked Eagles defeated ninth-ranked Bowdoin College 8-1 in Williamstown, Massachusetts on Saturday.
The Eagles now stand at 10-3 overall this season, and have won eight of their last nine matches. Bowdoin dropped its second-straight contest, and are 8-3 during the campaign.
Emory swept the doubles matches for the second-straight day, with junior Gabrielle Clark and freshman Annette Sullivan winning 8-3 at first doubles, senior Jordan Wylie and Madison Gordon claiming an 8-5 second doubles win, and freshman Emma Taylor and junior Brenna Kelly earning an 8-4 win at third doubles.
Emory's success continued into singles play, where the Eagles took five of the six matches. At first singles, Clark earned a 6-2, 6-2 win, while freshman Beatrice Rosen earned a 6-3, 6-0 win at third singles. In the no. 4 singles match, Gordon claimed a 6-3, 6-1 victory over her counterpart, while Kelly utilized a third set to pick up the win at fifth singles, 6-3, 4-6, 10-6. Rounding out the victory, freshman Stephanie Loutsenko won 7-5, 6-3 at sixth singles.
The Eagles' only singles loss came in the second match, where freshman Marissa Levine suffered a 7-5, 6-3 defeat.
Emory will wrap-up its weekend trip to New England with a 10:00 AM match on Sunday morning against Williams College, the fifth-ranked team in Division III.
