Women’s Tennis Announces 2012-13 Team Award Winners

Emory University Women's Tennis Head Coach Amy Bryant announced the winners of the team's awards for the 2012-13 campaign.

Junior Gabrielle Clark was named the team's Most Valuable Player, after earning all-America honors for both her singles and doubles play during the season, and claiming the University Athletic Association's (UAA) Most Valuable Player award.  In the fall, Clark was the ITA Fall National Small College Champion for Division III in both the singles and doubles draws.

Freshman Beatrice Rosen was named the squad's Rookie of the Year, notching a 24-9 record during the year and reaching the quarterfinals of the NCAA Singles Championships, in addition to earning UAA Rookie of the Year honors.  Other individual award winners include Most Improved Player Madison Gordon, Sportsmanship Award winner Brenna Kelly and Coach's Award winner Annette Sullivan

Emory also recognized 20-match winners Clark (doubles), Rosen (singles), Sullivan (doubles) and Emma Taylor (doubles), along with 30-singles match winner Clark.  Clark, Catharine Harris, Lauren Pinsky and Danielle Truitt earned an all-Academic award, presented to upperclassmen with grade point average higher than 3.5 for the spring semester.

In addition, Clark and Kelly, both rising seniors, were selected as team co-captains for the 2013-14 campaign.

Emory finished second at the 2013 NCAA Division III Championships, ending the year with an overall record of 18-5, after claiming the UAA Championship earlier in the season.  The Eagles will kick-off their 2013-14 season with the ITA South Region Championships in Sewanee, TN on September 27th.
