The Emory University women's tennis made quick work of Berry College and Brenau University to improve to 6-1 on the season. The Eagles blanked Berry 9-0 and defeated Brenau 8-1.

The team also raised over $1,500 in their "Aces for the Cure" fundraiser with 15 aces total in the two matches. All money raised goes to the Winship Institute for cancer research.

Against Berry the Eagles dropped just eight games total over the six singles matches en route to victory. Senior Beatrice Rosen won no.1 singles 6-1, 6-0 and sophomore Anna Fuhr earned a 6-2, 6-0 decision for the no.2 singles point. At the no.3 position, junior Melissa Goodman won the point with identical 6-1 wins in both sets. Junior Paula Castro knocked off her opponent 6-1, 6-0 and freshman Daniella Moreno-Kaste shutout McCray of Berry for the no.5 singles point. Senior Stephanie Loutsenko wrapped things off for the Eagles, winning the no.6 point 6-2, 6-0.

In doubles, all three Emory teams won by identical 8-2 scores with the pairs of Moreno-Kaste/Castro, Goodman/Rosen and freshman Taylor Cosme/Loutsenko taking home victories.

In the second match against Brenau, the #7 NAIA program, the Eagles earned the 8-1 decision including three points decided by default.

Sophomore Bridget Harding picked up the no.1 singles point 6-1, 6-3 while junior Michelle Satterfield won at no.2 singles 6-4, 6-0. Cosme needed a third set tiebreaker but earned the no.3 singles point 1-6, 6-1, 10-7 and freshman Daniela Lopez made quick work of her opponent 6-1, 6-2 at the no.4 singles position.

The pair of Harding and Fuhr tallied the lone doubles point for Emory in the match, winning no.1 doubles 8-6.

The final two singles and third doubles match were awarded to the Eagles by default.

Emory will host Division II Columbus State the next time the team takes to the court on Wednesday afternoon. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 PM at the outdoor Woodruff PE Center tennis courts.
