Emory's Brett Lake and Brittany File End Baseball and Softball Seasons As NCAA Statistical Champions

Emory University's Brett Lake (Studio City, CA) and Brittany File (Carmel, CA) ended their respective baseball and softball campaigns as NCAA statistical champions.

Lake, a First Team All-American as chosen by D3Baseball.com, led all Division III performers with a school-record 69 runs batted in.  Lake drove in two or more runs in 20 contests and recorded nine contests of three or more RBIs.  During his junior year, Lake helped the Eagles to an overall record of 38-13, which included a national runner-up finish in the NCAA Championships, by hitting a team-leading .417 (86-of-206) with that mark ranking second in the University Athletic Association.   His 86 hits tied for second nationally, just two shy of UW-Lacrosse’s Taylor Kohlwey’s D-III leading total.

File, who completed her freshman season in 2013-14, topped all Division III pitchers with an average of 10.98 strikeouts per seven innings with that effort establishing a school seasonal record.  Her performance in the circle played a key role in the Eagles’ final won-lost ledger of 39-9 that included a berth in the NCAA Super Regionals.   She tossed six complete games en route to compiling a 10-5 won-lost, hurling 102 2/3 innings and striking out 161 batters, good for the No. 2 spot in the UAA and No. 3 on the school's seasonal ladder.
