Men's Golf Opens Season With Third Place Finish at Gate City Invitational

The Emory University men's golf team closed out its season opening tournament with a third place finish at the Gate City Invitational in Greensboro, NC. The tournament was played on the 6,682-yard, par-71 Starmount Country Club Golf Course.

The No. 2 ranked Eagles registered an 858 (286-287-285) over the course of the 54-hole tournament which is tied for the tenth best mark in program history and saw them finish third at the tournament. Taking home the Gate City Invitational trophy was No. 24 Guilford who notched a 852 (283-287-282) while No. 1 Methodist finished in the silver medalist position after recording a three-round score of 854 (281-286-287).

Sophomore Michael Burry was the top scorer for the Eagles, registering a 213 (69-72-72) which put him in a tie for eighth place and was the best three round score of his collegiate career. Junior Jackson Klutznick, reigning All-American First Team selection, tied for 16th after carding a rock-solid 215 (72-72-71). Junior Michael Rosenbloom finished with the third most birdies at the tournament with 11 which placed him tied for 18th in the field of 90, scoring a 217 (75-72-70). Sophomores Tony Li and Josh Qian tied for 22nd, each posting a score of 218 to round out the scoring for the Eagles.

The Eagles are next in action at the 54-hole NCAA DIII Preview in Nicholasville, KY from Sunday, October 2nd through Tuesday, October 4th.
