Emory Men's Golf Sits Tied for Fifth at NCAA DIII Preview

After the first round of the NCAA DIII Preview, the Emory University men's golf sits in a tie for fifth place at the 54-hole tournament. The tournament is being played on the 6,780-yard, par-72 Keene Trace Golf Club course.

The No. 2 ranked Eagles finished the first round with a score of 299 which ties them with No.1 Methodist and No. 5 Christopher Newport. The Eagles finished second in the field of 18 teams in total pars with 55. No. 9 Illinois Wesleyan leads the field with a first round score of 291 while No. 6 Piedmont (294 points) and No. 13 Washington & Lee (296 points) rounded out the podium. 

Sophomore Michael Burry paced the Eagles through 18 holes with a two-under par 70 which saw him tied for first with Jackson Hulsey of Illinois Wesleyan. Burry is tied for the tournament lead with a score of two-under par on par-3 holes. Junior Jackson Klutznick and sophomore Josh Qian are tied for 32nd after each posting a four-over 76 on day one. Sophomore Tony Li and junior Michael Rosenbloom each carded a 77 to close out scoring for the Eagles. 

The Eagles are back in action for the second of three rounds at the NCAA DIII Preview on Monday morning where they look to move their way up the leaderboard.
