Emory Men's Golf Pull Off Come-From-Behind Victory at DIII Golfweek Invite

The Emory University men's golf team pulled out a come from behind victory to win their second consecutive tournament at the DIII Golfweek Invite.  The tournament is being played on the 6,651-yard, par-71 Raven Golf Club course in Sandestin, FL.

A back-and-forth battle in the final round of play and a big final push resulted in the No. 2 ranked Eagles earning the tournament victory after coming into the final 18 holes in second place. The Eagles tallied a score of 291 on the final day of play helping them to a three round score of 859 (285-283-291). The Eagles led the field in scoring on all par-4 (+10) and par-5 (-2) holes which played a large factor in their victory. Coming in second was unranked Oglethorpe who carded an 864 (288-281-295) while No. 3 Huntingdon rounded out the podium after posting a score of 866 (284-285-297). 

Sophomore Michael Burry continues to enjoy a breakout season this time registering a 54-hole score of 212 (70-67-75) to lead the way for the Eagles and finish tied for third overall. Burry has led the Eagles in scoring in each of the three tournaments he has participated in thus far this season. Coming in second for the Eagles and tied for 12th overall was sophomore Josh Qian who recorded a 217 (70-73-73) while also leading the tournament in scoring on par-4 holes (-3). Sophomore Tony Li was a consistent presence for the Eagles scoring within two strokes in each round of play as he posted a final score of 217 (73-71-73) to tie him in 15th. Junior Michael Rosenbloom finished in a 24th place tie as he registered a score of 219 (72-74-73). Junior Jackson Klutznick had the best third round performance of any Eagle scoring a 72 to bring his three-round total to 221 (77-72-72) good for a 40th place tie. 

The Eagles are back in action next week at the Chick-fil-A Invitational in Rome, GA where they will look to repeat as champions after taking home the crown in 2021.
