Men's Golf Stands Second Following Day One of O’Briant Jensen Memorial

Through one round of the O'Briant Jensen Memorial the Emory University men's golf team sits in second place out of 18 teams. The 36-hole tournament is being played on the 6,755-yard, par-71 Sedgefield-Dye course in Greensboro, NC.

The newly minted No. 1 ranked Eagles scored a 292 on the first 18 holes which sees them in sole possession of second place and seven strokes off of the tournament lead. Of the 18 teams competing seven of them are ranked in the top 25 with the most notable being No. 2 Methodist, No. 5 Christopher Newport and No. 6 Carnegie Mellon. The Captains of Christopher Newport reside in first place after posting a first round score of 285 while the Methodist Monarchs round out the podium carding a 293.

Sophomores Michael Burry and Josh Qian lead the Eagles in scoring through one round of play, each carding a one-over par 72 to tie them for tenth place with four other golfers. Junior Michael Rosenbloom finished day one third for the Eagles and tied for 16th overall with a score of 73, the highlight of his day coming on par-5 hole-10 which he eagled. Junior Jackson Klutznick was rock-solid for Emory recording a 75 to tie him for 31st with 18 holes left to play. Rounding out scoring for the Eagles was sophomore Tony Li who registered a score of 78 to finish tied for 48th.

Coming off his first ever individual tournament win at the Chick-fil-A Invitational, sophomore Prayaag Oruganti, competing as an individual, logged an 81 in the first round of play tying him in 69th place.

The Eagles are back in action tomorrow morning for the second and final round of play at the O'Briant Jensen Memorial in Greensboro, NC.
