Men's Golf Wins Sixth Tournament of the Year at Emory Spring Invitational

The Emory University men's golf team took home their sixth tournament crown of the academic year as they won their home Emory Spring Invitational on Tuesday in Conyers, Georgia. The tournament was played on the 6,905-yard, par-72 Cherokee Run Golf Course.

The No. 1 ranked Eagles put up a three-round total of 897 (296-308-293) which earned them the tournament win in the field of 13 teams. The Eagles led the tournament in total birdies (44) and total pars (159) which greatly helped them on the way to their victory. Emory's B-team closed out the third round with a score of 314 which brought their two-day total to 923 (305-304-314) which was good for fourth place. Rounding out the podium were No. 21 Babson (916) and No. 19 Averett (918). 

Junior Jackson Klutznick took home the Emory Spring Invitational individual trophy for the second consecutive year as he carded a 217 (73-73-71) and led all golfers on par-4 holes hitting three-under on those holes. Neck-and-neck with Klutznick all tournament was sophomore Tony Li who ended up in second place after finishing just a single stroke behind Klutznick with a score of 218 (72-75-71). Freshman Brian Hanson turned in the best finish of his young career as he notched a score of 225 (74-78-73) which tied him for sixth place, the highest finish of his career. Sophomores Michael Burry and Nicholas Nautiyal rounded out scoring for the Eagles as they each posted a 78 on the final round of play placing them tied for 35th and 44th, respectively at the end of the tournament. 

For the B-team, junior Tarun Hoskere led the Eagles in scoring in all three rounds notching a four-over par 76 in the third round to bring his 54-hole total to 223 (73-74-76) and placing him tied for fourth overall. Tied for 12th place, sophomore Josh Qian had a rock-solid third round, posting a 79 to bring his three-round total to 230 (76-75-79). Junior Michael Rosenbloom (235) and senior Grant Drogosch (240) finished in third and fourth for the B-team, respectively. Rounding out scoring for the Eagles was junior Logan Lowery who posted a third round score of 79 to tie him for 50th place.

The Eagles will be off for approximately a month before returning for the NCAA Division III Championships that will take place in Nicholasville, Kentucky on May 16-19.
