Women's Golf Places Three on All-UAA Team

The Emory University women's golf team was well-represented once more on the All-University Athletic Association Team as announced by the conference office Wednesday morning.

Sophomore standouts Ellen Dong and Sharon Mun were chosen as All-UAA First Team representatives for the second consecutive season while freshman contributor Katie Park was tabbed to the Second Team. In addition, Head Coach Katie Futcher and Assistant Coach Christel Boeljon were named the UAA's Coaching Staff of the Year for the second straight time.

After her National Freshman of the Year campaign a year ago, Mun has picked up where she has left off this season as she leads the Eagles with a 72.9 average round score. Mun turned in a pair of medalist showings at the Hamilton College Invitational and the Golfweek DIII Preview in the fall and totaled five different top-three individual showings. Furthermore, she was named the UAA Tournament MVP after leading the Eagles to their second straight conference crown.

Dong has been equally impressive in her second season with the Eagles, leading the team to a No. 1 ranking ahead of this year's NCAA Championships. This year, Dong has four top-5 individual efforts including a season-best third place finish at the Savannah Invitational, helping the team capture the team win. She entered the NCAA Championships with an average round score of 75.4.

Park rounds out the honorees with a Second Team selection. In her first season with the Eagles, Park owns a 77.2 average round score while appearing in five tournaments. She had a season-best two-round score of 150 (78-72) at the Savannah Invite to finish in a tie for fifth, one of her three top-10 individual efforts on the year. She turned in another strong performance in the final tournament of the regular season with a 151 (71-80) at the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling with her 71 first round score marking a personal best.

The Eagles are currently in search of their the second straight national championship as the 2023 NCAA Championships got underway on Tuesday in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.  After round one, Emory holds a three stroke lead over second place George Fox University.
