Emory has finished among the top 10 Division III programs in the Director's Cup in 14 of the last 15 years.  The Director's Cup honors institutions maintaining a broad-based athletic program, achieving success in many sports.  In 2014-15, the Eagles placed eighth out of 323 schools that scored points.

Emory student-athletes have distinguished themselves on the academic front.  A total of 161 student-athletes have been selected as CoSIDA Academic All-Americans since 1983-84.  Since the fall of 2000, the Eagles have earned 111 CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, topping all all non-football playing institutions.

NUTRITION

For athletes to reach peak performance, fueling their bodies is imperative.  Optimal fueling includes eating enough real food to meet the required energy needs, drink enough of the right fluids to properly hydrate the body, and maintain the right balance of nutrients.  Enrolled Emory varsity student-athletes are eligible to consult with a Board Certified Sports Dietitian/Nutritionist* at Student Health Services at no cost

The Sports Nutritionist can:

** Help identify the correct foods for pre/during/post exercise

** Help with fluid choices pre/during/post exercise

** Help design a plan that accomodates food allergies or medical conditions

** Help with weight gain or appropriate weight loss

*The Board Certification as a Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) credential is the premier professional sports nutrition credential in the United States.   CSSDs are registered dietitians who provide safe, effective, evidence-based nutrition services for health, fitness, and athletic performance.    The CSSD was developed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the nation’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals.    CDR is an organizational member of the National Organization for Competency Assurance.
