    Emory University junior Andrew Wilson was named the NCAA Division III Men’s Swimmer of the Year, after winning three National Championships, each in a Division III record time, at the 2015 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships in Shenandoah, Texas last week. Wilson became the first Emory men’s swimmer to win three National Championships at one meet, finishing first and setting new Division III records in the 200-yard individual medley (1:46.23), 100-yard breaststroke (51.72 seconds), and 200-yard breaststroke (1:52.97). His time in the 100-yard breaststroke was the ninth-fastest ever by an American in the event (short course yards), while his 200-yard breaststroke time ranks him 13th in the world. Wilson also set school records and recorded second-place finishes as the breaststroke leg of Emory’s 200-yard medley relay (1:27.96) and 400-yard medley relay (3:13.55) teams. For his career, the junior has amassed five National Championships and 12 All-America certificates. Wilson scored 77 points for the Eagles at the NCAA Championships, helping lead the team to a fourth-place finish.

    Emory University junior John Galvin recorded his best time of the season in the 200-yard butterfly at the Emory Invitational last weekend. Galvin swam a time of 1:50.17 to win the finals of the event, a .30-second improvement on his previous season-best time. The mark was also good for an NCAA ‘B’ cut time, one of three he recorded in the event during the meet (he also swam times of 1:51.34 in the preliminaries, and 1:51.82 in the time trials of the 200-yard butterfly). Galvin scored 20 points towards the Eagles’ team total, helping the squad to a first-place finish at the meet.

    Emory University junior Andrew Wilson was named the University Athletic Association Swimmer of the Year, after setting records and finishing first in three events at the conference championship meet last weekend. Wilson won and set new UAA records in the 200-yard individual medley (1:49.34), the 100-yard breaststroke (54.12 seconds) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:00.20). In addition, he was a member of Emory’s conference record-setting 400-yard medley relay team, which won the event in a time of 3:16.81. Wilson also helped the Eagles’ 800-yard freestyle relay team finish third (6:46.30), the 200-yard medley relay finish fourth (1:30.61) and the 400-yard freestyle relay win the ‘B’ heat with a time of 3:05.43. Wilson accounted for 148.5 of the Eagles’ 1,551 points during the meet, guiding the squad to its 17th-consecutive UAA Championship.

    Emory University senior Kevin Flood recorded first-place finishes in three events during the third-ranked Eagles’ dual meet win at the University of the South on Saturday. Flood won a pair of individual events, finishing first in both the 200-yard butterfly (2:00.30) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:02.56). He added another win as a part of the Eagles’ 200-yard medley relay team, swimming the freestyle leg and helping the team to a time of 1:37.94. Flood rounded out the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke, recording a career-best time of 2:02.13 in the event. He contributed 15.75 points towards the Eagles’ team total, helping Emory defeat the University of the South 148-108, as the squad ended the year with a 4-3 record.

    Emory University sophomore Mitchell Cooper won a pair of individual events and was a part of a winning relay during the third-ranked Eagles’ dual-meet triumph over Darton College on Saturday at the Woodruff Physical Education Center. Cooper won both the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard backstroke with times of 1:55.01 and 51.74 seconds, respectively. In addition, he swam the backstroke leg of the Eagles’ 200-yard medley relay team, helping the squad win the event with a time of 1:33.83. Cooper helped Emory claim a 119-87 win over Darton, as the team improved to 3-2 in dual meets this season.

    Emory University senior Hayden Baker reached the finals of both butterfly events at the Arena Pro Swim Series at Austin last weekend. Facing some of the top swimmers in the country, Baker finished 24th in the finals of the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 56.39 seconds, after swimming a time of 55.64 seconds and finishing 22nd in the preliminaries of the event. He also finished 27th in the 200-meter butterfly finals with a mark of 2:09.02, after recording a time of 2:09.34 and claiming a 32nd-place finish in the preliminaries. Baker added a 56th-place finish in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 25.18 seconds.

    Emory University sophomore Christian Baker won the 500-yard freestyle during the third-ranked Eagles’ dual meet at Florida Southern College, the third-ranked team in Division II. Baker won the event with a time of 4:41.09. He added a fourth-place finish as the anchor leg of of Emory’s 200-yard freestyle relay team, which recorded a time of 1:30.45. Baker scored 11 points for Emory, as the Eagles fell to the Moccasins by a 176-107 score.

    Emory University junior Andrew Wilson set a pair of NCAA Division III records during the Miami Invitational in Oxford, Ohio last week. On Friday, Wilson set the D-III record in the 100-yard breaststroke, swimming a time of 53.41 seconds to win the finals of the event. The next day, he won the 200-yard breaststroke with a Division III record time of 1:57.18. Both marks were also good for pool and meet records, in addition to being automatic qualifying times for the NCAA Championships. On the first day of the meet, Wilson broke the school and meet records in the 200-yard individual medley with a mark of 1:47.59, good for a ‘B’ cut and a first-place finish. He was a part of three NCAA provisional qualifying relay efforts as well, swimming the breaststroke leg of the Eagles’ first-place 400-yard medley relay (3:16.70) and second-place 200-yard medley relay (1:30.39), and the third leg of the third-place 800-yard freestyle relay team (6:42.79). Wilson also finished 37th in the preliminaries of the 50-yard freestyle (21.66 seconds), eighth in the preliminaries of the 100-yard butterfly (50.07 seconds) and ninth as the anchor leg of one of the Eagles’ 400-yard freestyle relay teams (3:06.99). His performance helped lead the third-ranked Eagles to a fourth-place finish out of six teams at the meet.

    Emory University senior Hayden Baker won three events during the Eagles’ dual meet victory over the Savannah College of Art and Design on Saturday. Baker swept the two butterfly events, matching his season-best times in each with marks of 50.60 seconds in the 100-yard butterfly and 1:54.61 in the 200-yard butterfly. The team co-captain also swam the butterfly leg on the Eagles’ winning 200-yard medley relay team (1:33.58) and the leadoff leg of the second-place 400-yard freestyle relay team (3:11.08). Baker scored 20.5 points towards the Eagles’ total, helping the squad improve to 2-1 on the year with a 153-106 win over the Bees.

    Emory University sophomore Mitchell Cooper won a pair of individual events and a relay to help lead the Eagles to a dual meet win at Birmingham-Southern College on Saturday. Cooper was victorious in the 400-yard individual medley with an NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 4:05.25 in the event. He added an individual first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:40.89, and swam a second-leg split of 1:43.60 on the Eagles’ winning 800-yard freestyle relay team (7:01.12). Cooper’s effort helped the Eagles to a 163.5-95.5 win over the Panthers, as the team raised its record to 1-1 on the year.

    Emory University junior Andrew Wilson won three individual events during the Eagles’ season-opening dual meet against the NCAA Division I University of North Carolina – Wilmington at the Woodruff Physical Education Center on Saturday. Wilson swept the breaststroke events, with the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 56.53 seconds and the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:04.87. He added an event victory in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:54.76, and swam the breaststroke leg of the Eagles’ 200-yard medley relay, which finished second in a time of 1:33.41. Wilson contributed 28 points towards Emory’s team total, despite a 152-142 loss to the Seahawks.

    Emory University junior Andrew Wilson won three individual events and a relay at the Eagles’ first meet of the season, the annual Blue-Gold Intrasquad. Swimming for the Gold team, Wilson swept the breaststroke events, winning the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 56.35 seconds, and the 200-yard breaststroke with a mark of 2:03.85, both surpassing the NCAA ‘B’ cut times. In addition, he claimed a win in the 200-yard individual medley (1:55.28) and as the breaststroke leg of the Eagles’200-yard medley relay (1:35.37). Wilson totaled 29.75 points for the Gold team, as Gold and Blue finished tied at the meet with 130 points each.
