    Emory University freshman Christian Johnson recorded a career-best mark in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Dr. Keeler Invitational on Friday, hosted by North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. Johnson’s time of 9:29.70 was a near seven-second improvement on his previous career-best mark, and was good for a 15th-place finish in the event at the meet. In addition, the time ranked as the ninth-fastest by a runner in school history.

    Emory University senior Mike Moserowitz won the long jump at the 2014 University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships. Moserowitz jumped a distance of 6.75 meters to claim the conference championship in the event, the second outdoor UAA title of his career. He added an all-UAA honor in the triple jump, finishing third in the event with a measure of 13.63 meters. Both of the marks were his best of the season. Moserowitz contributed 16 points towards the Eagles’ team total, helping the squad to a third-place finish.

    Emory University junior Gui Silva won the conference championship in the 400-meter dash and was a part of two all-conference relays at the 2014 University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships. Silva won the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.46 seconds, becoming the first Eagle to win the event at the conference championship meet since Frederick Linton in 2008. He was the anchor leg of a pair of runner-up relay teams, helping the 4x100-meter relay finish second in a time of 42.40 seconds, and the 4x400-meter relay team claim second-place with a mark of 3:17.58 (the 18th-best mark in Division III this season). Silva also scored with a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash, running a time of 22.03 seconds in the finals. He totaled 20 points for Emory during the meet, helping the Eagles finish in third place in the team standings.

    Emory University junior Zachary Rosenberg helped the Eagles to a team victory at the Mountain Laurel Invitational on Friday in Sewanee, Tennessee, finishing second in a pair of events at the meet. Rosenberg was the runner-up in the 200-meter dash with a career-best time of 22.62 seconds, good for the seventh-best time among University Athletic Association (UAA) competitors this year. He added a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.47 seconds. Rosenberg scored 16 of the Eagles’ 201 points during the meet to help lead the squad to the team victory.

    Emory University junior James Bassen recorded a pair of season-best throws at the Blue Shoes Collegiate Track and Field Meet, hosted by Furman University in Greenville, SC on Saturday. Bassen was the runner-up in the javelin throw at the meet, recording a distance of 54.28 meters. The mark was the best this season by a University Athletic Association (UAA) athlete, and ranks 45th among all NCAA Division III throwers this season. He added a third-place finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 36.70 meters, the 12th-best mark in the UAA in 2014.

    Emory University junior Gui Silva set personal records in all three events he ran on Saturday at the Blue Shoes Collegiate Track and Field Meet, hosted by Furman University in Greenville, SC. Silva won the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.29 seconds, the best mark in the University Athletic Association (UAA) this season (over a second faster than the next-best time) and the 11th-best time among all NCAA Division III competitors. He was the runner-up in the 200-meter dash, as his time of 21.89 seconds ranks second in the UAA this season and is tied for 28th in Division III in 2014. Silva added a personal-best time in the 100-meter dash, finishing seventh in a time of 11.31 seconds, the 10th-best mark in the UAA this year.

    Emory University senior Alex Fleischhacker was the top NCAA Division III finisher in the 5,000-meter run at the VertKlasse Meeting in High Point, NC last weekend. Fleischhacker finished third overall with a time of 15:09.95 in the event. The mark was just under a 10-second improvement of his previous outdoor career-best time in the event, and ranks as the seventh-fastest time by a University Athletic Association (UAA) runner and the 47th-best time among all Division III competitors this season.

    Emory University sophomore Jacob Seigel recorded a pair of personal-best throws, while in action at the VertKlasse Meeting in High Point, NC last weekend. Seigel finished sixth in the discus throw with a toss of 44.10 meters, the second-best by a University Athletic Association (UAA) competitor this season, and a .08 meter improvement on his previous career-best mark. He added a 13th-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 12.96 meters, besting his previous personal-best mark by .48 meters and ranking as the eighth-best mark in the conference this year.

    Emory University junior Gui Silva won the 400-meter dash with a top-ten time by a Division III athlete this season at the Emory Classic last weekend. Silva won the event with a time of 48.41 seconds, the sixth-fastest in Division III this season and the fastest by a University Athletic Association (UAA) competitor this year. It was also a personal record in the event for Silva, marking a .82-second improvement on his previous career-best time. He added a sixth-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.89 seconds, the fifth-fastest in the UAA this season, and helped the 4x100-meter relay team to a fourth-place finish in a time of 43.71 seconds. Silva contributed 14.25 points towards the team total, helping the Eagles finish second out of 14 teams at the meet.

    The Emory University 4x400-meter relay team of junior Zachary Rosenberg, sophomore Adam Rabushka, junior Gui Silva and sophomore Maxwell Hoberman recorded a first-place finish in the event at the Emory Invitational on Saturday. The quartet won the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:19.50, the fifth-fastest mark in Division III this season. The relay contributed 10 points towards Emory’s team total of 73 for the meet, helping the Eagles finish third out of 23 teams at the Emory Invitational.

    Emory University sophomore Jacob Seigel recorded a personal-best throw in the shot put during the Emory Invitational last weekend, the opening meet of the 2014 outdoor season for the Eagles. Seigel’s throw of 12.60 meters was good for a ninth-place finish, and was a .04 meter improvement on his previous outdoor career-best mark. He also finished eighth in the discus throw with a toss of 41.75 meters, the 35th-best mark in Division III this season. Seigel’s performance helped lead the Eagles to a third-place finish out of 23 teams at the meet.

    The Emory University Men’s 4x400-meter relay of sophomores Maxwell Hoberman and Adam Rabushka and juniors Zachary Rosenberg and Gui Silva recorded a season-best time in the event at the Point National Qualifier on Saturday, hosted by the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. The quartet finished eighth in the relay at the meet with a time of 3:21.73, the sixth-fastest mark in school history.

    Emory University sophomore Maxwell Hoberman recorded three all-conference finishes at the 2014 University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts last weekend. Hoberman was the runner-up in the triple jump, recording a distance of 13.63 meters. He also finished second as a part of the Eagles’ 4x400-meter relay team, running the leadoff leg and helping the squad to a time of 3:22.56. Hoberman added a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.05 seconds, and an eighth-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 6.17 meters. He contributed 16 points towards the Eagles’ team total, as Emory finished in third place at the meet.

    Emory University sophomore Maxwell Hoberman notched his second-best distance of the year in the triple jump, while in action at the UCS Invitational, hosted by the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, NC on Saturday. Hoberman’s jump of 13.93 meters was good for third-place at the meet, and just three centimeters shy of his best of the season, which ranks as the top mark in the University Athletic Association (UAA) in 2014. He added a 28th-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 6.06 meters. Hoberman was also Emory’s top finisher in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.25 seconds, finishing 22nd at the meet, and ran the leadoff leg of the Eagles’ 4x400-meter relay, which finished seventh in a time of 3:24.76, the fastest time in the UAA this year.

    Emory University freshman Dennis Kamara recorded a season-best time in the 60-meter dash at the UCS Invitational on Saturday, hosted by the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, NC. Kamara finished 21st in the event with a time of 7.14 seconds, the best this season by an Eagle and tied for the fourth-best mark among all University Athletic Association (UAA) competitors. He also finished 29th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.55 seconds (12th-best in the UAA this season), and 14th in the triple jump with a distance of 12.55 meters (eighth in the UAA in 2014).

    Emory University sophomore Maxwell Hoberman was the Eagles’ top finisher in the triple jump, and helped lead the 4x400-meter relay team to the top-time in the University Athletic Association (UAA) this season at the Samford Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama last weekend. Hoberman finished 22nd in the triple jump with a leap of 13.40 meters. It was the second-longest triple jump in the UAA this season, behind only his conference-leading jump of 13.96 meters recorded earlier this season. He later ran the leadoff leg of the Eagles’ 4x400-meter relay team, which finished 14th in a time of 3:21.82, the best mark by a UAA relay in 2014 and the sixth-best time in school history.

    Emory University senior Mike Moserowitz recorded the top long jump this season by an Eagle while in action at the Tiger Indoor Invitation in Sewanee, Tennessee on Saturday. Moserowitz finished third in the event with a jump of 6.43 meters, the second-longest by a University Athletic Association (UAA) competitor this season. Earlier in the meet, he added a 20th-place finish in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.01 seconds.

    Emory University junior Gui Silva was the Eagles’ top performer in a pair of events at the Bob Pollock Invitational in Clemson, South Carolina last weekend. Facing mostly NCAA Division I competition, Silva finished 11th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.78 seconds, the fastest mark by a University Athletic Association (UAA) competitor this season. Earlier in the weekend, he placed ninth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.10 seconds, the fastest by an Eagle in 2014 and third among all UAA runners.

    Emory University senior Mike Moserowitz was the Eagles’ top performer in the triple jump at the Emory Crossplex Invitational on Sunday. Moserowitz finished third overall in the event and first among Division III competitors, recording a season-best leap of 13.07 meters, the second-best mark in the University Athletic Association (UAA) this season. He went on to notch his season-best performance in the long jump, finishing 10th overall with a jump of 6.22 meters, tied for the fifth-best mark among UAA athletes in 2014. Moserowitz also contributed on the track, running the anchor leg of the Eagles’ 4x400-meter relay team, which finished second in a time of 3:25.50, the fastest raw time in the UAA this season. His performances helped the Eagles finish third in the team standings at the meet, and first among competing NCAA Division III teams.

    Emory University senior Edward Mulder won the mile run at the Emory Crossplex Invitational on Sunday. Mulder finished first in the field of 49 runners, recording a time of 4:16.63 to best his previous career-best indoor mark by 1.99 seconds. The time was good for the 13th-best by a Division III runner this season, and was the best raw time by a University Athletic Association (UAA) competitor in 2014. Mulder also ran the leadoff leg of the Eagles’ distance medley relay team, which finished sixth in a time of 10:49.21. His performance helped the Eagles finish third in the team standings at the meet, and first among competing NCAA Division III teams.

    Emory University senior Brandon Bassell recorded an indoor personal record in the high jump at the Niswonger Invitational last weekend. Bassell finished eighth overall in the event, clearing the bar at a height of 1.93 meters. The mark bested his previous career-best height by three-hundredths of a meter, and is the best in the University Athletic Association (UAA) this season by a tenth of a meter.

    Emory University senior Edward Mulder finished second in the 5,000-meter run at the Niswonger Invitational in Johnson City, Tennessee last weekend. Mulder was the top Division III finisher in the event, placing second overall with a time of 15:02.41, three-tenths of a second off his career-best indoor time. The mark also ranks as the ninth-fastest by an NCAA Division III competitor this season, and the best by a University Athletic Association (UAA) runner.

    Emory University sophomore Maxwell Hoberman was the top NCAA Division III finisher in both events he competed in at the season-opening Panther Indoor Icebreaker in Birmingham, Alabama on Friday. Hoberman set a new career-best mark in the triple jump, recording a distance of 13.96 meters to finish seventh overall. The distance bested his previous career best by .14 meters, and ranks as the second-best mark by a Division III competitor this season. He also finished 10th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.32 seconds, good for the 11th-fastest mark by a D-III athlete this year.
  • Men's 4x400m Relay
    The Emory University men’s 4x400-meter relay team of junior Zachary Rosenberg, sophomore Adam Rabushka, sophomore Maxwell Hoberman and junior Gui Silva set a program record in the event at the 2014 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The squad placed 11th in the preliminaries, recording a time of 3:13.53, besting the previous program record of 3:14.22, set during the 2008 NCAA Championship. Silva also ran in the individual 400-meter dash at the meet, placing 16th in the preliminaries with a time of 48.96 seconds.
