Emory University sophomore Kyle Monk pitched out of the bullpen in three of Emory’s four games during the week, going 1-0 with a pair of saves. Monk allowed just two earned runs and six hits in 4.2 innings of work, while striking out four batters and walking one. He picked up the win during Tuesday’s 10-5 victory against LaGrange, pitching the final 1.2 innings, allowing one unearned run on two hits and a walk, while striking out one. On Friday, he earned a save against Piedmont College, closing out the game by pitching the final 2.1 innings, surrendering a pair of runs on four hits and striking out three without issuing a walk. Monk earned his second save of the week, getting the final two outs of the game without allowing a baserunner. He improved to 3-1 on the season with nine saves and a 2.70 ERA. Monk’s nine saves this year are the second-most in the program’s history, while his 17 career saves are one short of the program record. The Eagles ended the regular season with a 26-12 record.
Emory University sophomore outfielder Wilson Morgan hit a team-best .571 during the Eagles’ four games last week. Morgan led all Emory players with eight hits in 14 at bats, five runs batted in and four walks, finishing the week with a .667 on base percentage. He also scored three runs and stole a base. During Tuesday’s 10-5 win against LaGrange, the left-handed hitter batted sixth and went two-for-five with two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base. Again batting sixth during the Eagles’ 8-3 loss at Piedmont College on Thursday, he went two-for-two with a pair of walks. Morgan was moved into the clean-up spot on Friday, helping lead Emory to a 9-8 win over Piedmont at home, going three-for-four with two runs, two RBIs and a walk. He wrapped-up the week and the regular season with a one-for-three performance, including a walk and an RBI, in a 6-4 victory against Piedmont on Saturday. Morgan is now batting .368 this season with 12 runs scored, 20 runs batted in and six stolen bases, along with a .435 on base percentage. The Eagles finished the regular season with a record of 26-12.
Emory University sophomore Jackson Weeg pitched eight shutout innings during the Eagles’ 10-0 win at Covenant College on Tuesday. Weeg allowed just five hits and a pair of walks in the effort and needed to throw just 101 pitches in the game. He allowed just three runners to reach as far as second base in the game, and retired 10-straight batters between the third and sixth innings. The southpaw improved to 9-1 on season with a 1.56 ERA, both bests among University Athletic Association pitchers this season. He is tied for the NCAA Division III lead in wins, and his 60 strikeouts during the campaign rank 14th in the nation. Weeg and the Eagles will enter their final week of the 2015 regular season with a 23-11 record.
Emory University senior Wes Peacock matched a school record by hitting two home runs during the Eagles’ 10-0 win at Covenant College on Tuesday. Hitting out of the leadoff spot, Peacock was two-for-four with a walk and a pair of two-run home runs in the game, one in the fourth inning and the other in the eighth. The centerfielder finished the game with two runs scored and four RBIs. He is batting .294 this season with 24 RBIs and 24 runs scored, and has stolen 11 bases on 13 attempts. Peacock and the Eagles will begin the final week of their 2015 regular season with a 23-11 record.
Emory University freshman Matt Randolph pitched out of the bullpen in three of four games for the Eagles last week, helping the team to three wins. Randolph pitched 5.2 innings in relief, yielding just one earned run (and two total) on six hits and a walk, while striking out seven batters. During Wednesday’s 9-4 win at Oglethorpe University, the right-handed pitcher closed out the final two and a third innings of the game, allowing one unearned run on two hits and a walk, while striking out four batters. He added a scoreless inning of work on Saturday in an 8-0 loss to Maryville, allowing a hit and striking out one. Randolph capped off his week by earning the win in relief on Sunday in a 12-4 victory, giving up three hits and striking out two batters in two and a third innings, surrendering just one run. During his freshman campaign, Randolph is 2-1 with a 4.63 ERA, and has held opponents to a .287 batting average. The Eagles were 3-1 during the week, improving to 22-11 overall this season.

Facing the fifth-ranked team in Division III in runs scored entering the game, Weeg allowed just two runs (with only one earned) on five hits, while striking out a career-best 10 batters and failing to walk a hitter. The eight-innings pitched also matched his career-high. The southpaw improved to 7-1 on the year, while lowering his ERA to 1.66, and leads all University Athletic Association pitchers this season in wins, ERA and strikeouts (46) in 2015. Weeg and the Eagles finished the week with a 3-1 record, improving to 19-10 overall.
Emory University junior first baseman and designated hitter Ben Vizvary drove in a team-best five runs for the 26th-ranked Eagles last week, with the team going undefeated in each of his three starts. Vizvary hit .417 (five-for-12) with with three runs scored and two doubles. As the designated hitter on Friday night at Huntingdon College, he helped Emory to a 13-2 win by going three-for-five with a runs scored and two runs batted in. VIzvary then went one-for-three with a double in the first game of a doubleheader against Huntingdon on Saturday in Atlanta, driving in three runs and scoring one to lead the Eagles to a 6-4 victory. He wrapped up his week by going one-for-three including a double and a run scored, in the late game of the doubleheader, a 6-1 Eagles win. Vizvary is hitting .340 this season with 15 runs batted in and nine runs scored, including eight doubles and a .500 slugging percentage. Emory went 3-1 during the week, improving to 19-10 overall.
Emory University sophomore Luke Emmett earned the first win with the team, leading the 26th-ranked Eagle to a 4-1 win over DePauw University on Tuesday. Emmett started and pitched seven and two-thirds innings in the game, allowing just one run on four hits and a walk, while striking out four batters. The southpaw did not allow a hit until the fifth inning of the game, and allowed just the one hit through seven innings. Emmett improved to 1-0 on the season, and lowered his ERA to 2.04 on the year with a .177 opponents’ batting average. Emory went 4-1 in its five games last week, improving to 16-9 overall in 2015.
Emory University sophomore third baseman Philip Maldari hit .500 with eight RBIs over five games last week, helping the 26th-ranked Eagles to a 4-1 record during the stretch. Maldari registered 10 hits in 20 at bats, including seven doubles for a .850 slugging percentage. In a 9-2 loss to Berry College on Wednesday, the right-handed hitter was one-for-two with an RBI double. He then helped lead the Eagles to an 11-4 win over the University of Chicago in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday, going four-for-five with two runs scored, three RBIs and a pair of doubles. The third baseman added a pair of doubles and two RBIs in the late game against Chicago, going two-for-four with a run scored in a 10-1 Emory win. Maldari wrapped up the week by going three-for-five during a 9-8 win over LaGrange College, picking up another pair of doubles, scoring two more runs and driving in two more as well. Maldari is hitting .357 this season, and leads all Emory players with 11 doubles, 18 runs scored and 20 runs batted in. The Eagles improved to 16-9 overall on the season.

Eisner was seven-for-13 with a double, two runs scored, a walk and an RBI. He went two-for-five with a pair of runs scored in a 12-7 loss to Piedmont College on Friday. In the early game of a doubleheader against Hendrix College, an 11-4 loss, the left-handed hitter was three-for-four with a double, a walk and an RBI. Eisner wrapped up the weekend with a pair of singles in four at bats in the late game of the doubleheader, as Emory fell 5-0 to the Warriors. Eisner raised his batting average to .380 this year, and he leads all Emory players with a .483 on base percentage. The Eagles are now 12-8 for the campaign.
Emory University senior Connor Dillman allowed just one unearned run on a pair of hits in a 5-0 loss to Hendrix College on Saturday. Dillman started and struck out eight batters and walked five in six innings of work in the game. The right-handed pitcher is now 3-3 this season with a 3.53 ERA. Dillman and the Eagles are 12-8 overall this season.
Emory University senior Brett Lake helped the second-ranked Eagles win the 2015 University Athletic Association Championship by batting .524 (11-for-21) during the week. Lake appeared in five games for the Eagles, scoring a pair of runs and driving in six, while also collecting two doubles and a triple. He also finished third among all tournament players with five stolen bases. The outfielder and designated hitter drove in runs in four of the five games he appeared in. Highlights from his week include a three-for-four game with three RBIs, a double, a triple and two stolen bases against New York University on March 8th, and a four-for-five game with an RBI against 16th-ranked Case Western Reserve University on March 9th. Lake and the Eagles finished the week with a 6-2 record, tying for the conference title and improving to 12-5 overall.

Weeg went 2-0 over the two games with a 0.71 ERA, allowing just two runs (one earned) on seven hits over 12.2 innings pitched, with 10 strikeouts and three walks. On Monday, he allowed one earned run and two total on seven hits and a walk, while striking out four batters in a 6-2 win over the Spartans. He followed that with seven one-hit innings of work on Saturday, shutting out Case Western Reserve with six strikeouts and a pair of walks. For the season, the southpaw is 5-0 in five appearances with a 1.30 ERA and a .223 opponents’ batting average, with 24 strikeouts in 27.2 innings pitched. Weeg and the Eagles shared the 2015 UAA Championship with Washington University (Mo.), finishing the week with a 6-2 record and improving to 12-5 overall.

Emory University sophomore Hans Hansen pitched six-and-two-thirds strong innings in his first outing of the season, to give the Eagles a 5-2 win over Rhodes College. Hansen allowed just a pair of hits and two runs (only one earned), while walking two and striking out five in a 102-pitch effort. In addition, he retired 11-straight batters at one point in the game, between the third and seventh innings. Emory opened the season with a 3-0 record.

Karras was three-for-eight (.375), adding a pair of runs, while playing perfect defense during the weekend. During the team’s season-opening 13-3 win over Lynchburg College on Saturday, he went two-for-four with a pair of runs scored and three runs batted in. He followed that with a one-for-four game in a 5-2 victory against Rhodes College on Sunday, driving in a key run with a base hit in the sixth inning. Karras’ performance has helped the Eagles open the season with a 3-0 record.
