  • 13 Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors; Pietsch Named Outdoor Track Scholar Athlete of the Year

    Rising junior Daniel Pietsch of the Emory University track and field program was named the Outdoor Men’s Track Scholar Athlete of the Year as announced by the U.S. Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) late last week. Pietsch is the first Emory athlete to earn an Outdoor Track Scholar Athlete of the Year Award.

    Powered by sophomore Daniel Pietsch’s National Championship winning performance in the 400m Dash, the Emory University Men’s Track & Field had its highest finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships since 2008, placing 23rd with 11 points.
  • Mees, Williamson, Pietsch Named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans

    Three members of the Emory University Track & Field teams, Lukas Mees, Julie Williamson and Daniel Pietsch, were recognized as Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-Americans as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced on Wednesday afternoon. Mees was named to the First Team with Williamson and Pietsch earning spots on the second team. With his first team selection, Mees becomes just the seventh men’s track & field/cross country student-athlete in Emory history to garner Academic All-America First Team honors.

    On the strength of three All-America finishes, the Emory University Men’s Track & Field team posted its highest finish at the NCAA Championships since 2004, finishing 22nd in the country with 10 points at nationals.
  • NATIONAL CHAMPION!! - Pietsch Wins 400m Dash Title on Day Three of NCAA Outdoor Championships

    Sophomore Daniel Pietsch became just the second Emory Men’s Outdoor National Championship ever on Saturday at the 2016 NCAA Division III Championships at Wartburg College in Waverly, IA. Pietsch came-from-behind on the final stretch of the race to edge out Monmouth (Ill.)’s James Wilson by just .05 second to win the National Championship. Pietsch posted a school-record time of 46.92 in the event. The Kula, HI native is just the second ever Emory male athlete to be crowned an outdoor national champion, joining Troy Thompson who won the Triple Jump in 1995.
  • Emory Places Eight Student-Athletes on CoSIDA Cross Country/Track & Field All-District Teams

    The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released their 2015-16 Academic All-District teams in men’s and women’s cross country/track and field on Thursday afternoon with a total of eight Emory student-athletes being chosen. The Emory men’s team saw five athletes recognized in seniors Lukas Mees and Jacob Seigel and a trio of sophomores in Max Brown, Daniel Pietsch and Benjamin Rogin. On the women’s side, seniors Alexandra Aiello and Julie Williamson were selected as well as former cross country runner Elise Viox.

    Senior Lukas Mees and the women’s 4x400m Relay of freshman Dilys Osei, sophomore Julia Leventhal, freshman Ariana Newhouse and sophomore Erica Goldman all qualified for the finals in their respective events on Day One of the 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships at Wartburg College in Waverly, IA.
  • Eagles Garner 29 All-Region Selections by USTFCCCA; Curtin, Harden Earn Coach of the Year Honors

    Head coach of the Emory University track & field teams, John Curtin, was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) the South/Southeast Regional Women’s Coach of the Year as announced by the organization late Tuesday afternoon. In addition, Assistant Coach Lance Harden was named the South/Southeast Regional Men's Assistant Coach of the Year while the Eagles garnered 29 All-Region selections by the association.
  • Seven Eagles Qualify for 2016 NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships

    Seven athletes from the Emory University track & field teams, two men and five women, have qualified for the 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships to held from Thursday, May 26th through Saturday, May 28th at Wartburg College in Waverly, IA.

    Emory University senior Lukas Mees was named the University Athletic Association Track Athlete of the Week as announced by the Association on Tuesday morning. It is the second time he was earned the honor this season.

    The Emory University track & field teams sent nine combined athletes to the Aggie Last Chance Meet at North Carolina A&T on Sunday afternoon in Greensboro, NC to try and improve their times before the NCAA Division III Championships at the end of the month.

  • 14 Eagles in Action at Dr. Keeler Invite and Aggie Last Chance Meet

    The Emory University track & field teams continue the final stretch of the outdoor season with a pair of meets this weekend in preparation for the 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. 14 Eagles will be in competition split across two meets with five traveling to Naperville, IL for the Dr. Keeler Invitational at North Central College and the other nine heading to Greensboro, N.C. for the Aggie Last Chance at North Carolina A&T University. The Dr. Keeler Invite will take place on Thursday, May 12th and Friday, May 13th and the Aggie Last Chance Meet being held on Sunday, May 15th.
  • Williamson Breaks 800m Run Record at the Kentucky Relays

    Senior Julie Williamson broke the school record in the 800m Run to lead the Emory University track & field teams at the Kentucky Relays held on the campus of the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. There was no team scoring at the meet.

    The Emory University track & field teams saw five more athletes capture conference titles on day two of the 2016 Outdoor UAA Championships held at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. The Emory women finished in second with 173 points while the men’s team finished in fourth place with 124.5 points.

    The Emory University track & field teams saw three athletes crowned conference champions with two other individuals and one relay team earning All-UAA honors on day one of the 2016 UAA Outdoor Championships in St. Louis, Mo. Following one day of competition, the Eagles on men side sit in fourth place with 45.50 points while the Emory women’s team is in fifth place with 37 points.

    The Emory University track & field teams competed in Sewanee’s Mount Laurel Invitational on Friday afternoon with the women’s team winning another meet, their fourth straight, scoring 221 points meanwhile the men’s team came in third out of 11 schools with 112.5 points.

    The Emory University track & field teams took part in the Berry Field Day Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Rome, GA. The women’s team continued their strong performance of late, winning their third straight scored meet, edging out Division II’s Shorter 159.50-152 while the men’s team placed third at the Invitational with 100 team points.

    Seniors Lukas Mees and Spencer Koh of the Emory University Track & Field team swept the University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week awards as announced by the Association on Monday afternoon. This marks the second Athlete of the Week award for Koh this season and first of the outdoor season while this is the first track athlete of the week honor for Mees this year.

    Both the Emory University men’s and women’s track & field teams took first place at the Emory Classic this past weekend. The women cruised to the win, scoring 209 team points, 76 more than second place Jacksonville State while the men edged out Hope 199-186.
